Ireland Trip 2016

Central Europe Trip 2019 - Join Us!

Welcome to my LPC home page!

I am a tenured English instructor at a California community college, Las Positas College, as well as a scholar who researches the racial formation of identity in the United States and Europe, particularly Ireland. If you are a student in one of my classes, please feel free to review these materials to learn a little bit more about me--you will see why I choose the themes that I do for my courses! If you are a teacher, I would love to hear from you if you are interested in discussing my course themes or my research. My working manuscript, developed out of my dissertation research, is entitled "Engaging Whiteness: Transatlantic Narratives of Nineteenth-Century Irish Racial Identity." I spent my 2017-2018 sabbatical year working on globalizing the curriculum and teaching American Studies on a Fulbright scholar grant to the University of Zagreb, Croatia. I have recently been blogging on this experience at
