Short answer questions, answered on quiz sheet. Will include facts, theory and practical identification (slides, measurements, etc.).
Points will be given for each completed lab exercise. I will check lab worksheets after every lab.
There may be short, unannounced quizzes at the beginning of lab.
Lab points will count for about 30% of course grade.

Reports: Every student will choose a geographical area on which to base a report. There will be a different theme related to your area for each report. See the Report Description and Subjects sheet for more complete instructions

Point distribution will be approximately:

Lecture quizzes 7 points/lecture X 30 lectures 210
Lab quizzes 5 points/lab X 16 labs 80

Reports 10 points/report X 7 reports 70
Oral report   30
Written report = final   70

The highest score in the class will be counted as 100% and the final grade will be based on a percentage of that. A = 90-100%; B = 80-89%; C = 70-79%; D = 60-69%; F = <60%.

There will be occasional pop quizzes in lab and lecture. Each question will be worth one point.
