Examinations and Grading Policy


Lecture

4 QUIZZES on material covered since previous quiz.
Multiple choice questions, answered on a scantron.
Exams will cover lecture material and reading material pertaining to it.

The FINAL will be comprehensive, multiple choice and answered on a scantron.
Lecture points will count for about 60% of course grade.

Lab

5 QUIZZES, each covering material since previous quiz.
Short answer questions, answered on quiz sheet.  Will include facts, theory and practical identification (slides, measurements, etc.).
Points will be given for each completed lab exercise, including the worksheets for each lab.
There may be short, unannounced quizzes at the beginning or end of lab.
Lab points will count for about 40% of course grade.

 

Report
Each student will give a 10 minute presentation on a physiological condition or research project.  The report will include illustrations (PowerPoint?). The topics and references must be cleared with the instructor.  More information and reference suggestions will follow.

 

Point distribution will be approximately
Lecture quizzes = 400
Lab quizzes = 140 (5 pts/lab)
Lab worksheets = 140 (5 pts/lab)                                                               
Report = 50
Final = 100                                                                                               
Total = 830                                                                                                                      

The highest score in the class will be counted as 100% and the final grade will be based on a percentage of that. A = 90-100%; B = 80-89%; C = 70-79%; D = 60-69%; F = <60%.

There will be occasional pop quizzes in lab and lecture.  Each question will be worth one point. 

 

Makeup exams are given only with a medical excuse from your doctor.
